We graded 44 ICC exhibitor websites. Here's what we found.

ICC is in Sacramento this week. We took the public exhibitor list and ran 44 of their websites through the Nimbiq Website Grader — anonymized, no names, no individual scores. Average: 71 out of 100.

In short

  • We graded 44 ICC 2026 exhibitor websites on findability: can a first-time visitor search the site, navigate it, and reach someone?
  • The average score was 71 out of 100 — and more than half the sites had no site search at all.
  • The full two-page benchmark is free in the Growth Kit.

Your booth closes at 5. Your website doesn't.

A buyer lands on an exhibitor's site at 11 PM with a part number, a spec question, a retrofit problem. The answer is on the site — the team wrote it, probably years ago. The visitor never finds it.

We wanted to know how common that really is among companies marketing themselves this week, so we ran 44 ICC exhibitor websites through our grader. Each site is counted once below, under its single biggest gap. The grade split: 15 A's, 11 B's, 10 C's — and 8 sites (18%) in D or F territory.

Read the findings like a visitor

  • No site search (23 sites). This is the manufacturing website search problem in one number: a buyer who knows what they want — a part number, a spec, a service — has no shortcut. On a 2,622-page site, that is a dead end.
  • Choice overload (14 sites). Capabilities under menus under menus, solutions scattered across subsites. Every extra level is a decision the visitor has to get right.
  • No navigation menu at all (3 sites). No clear way to move around the site, period.
  • No one to ask (2 sites). When search fails and menus overwhelm, the only thing left is a human — or an assistant — who can answer on the spot.

The pattern is unmistakable: the pages exist, but nobody can find them. Industrial sites are rich with content — products, solutions, case studies — buried behind menus visitors can't navigate, with no search to rescue them.

The fix isn't a redesign

You don't need fewer pages. Industrial buyers wantdepth — specs, projects, proof. What's missing is a guide: something that meets the visitor's question with an answer drawn from the content you already have, then captures the lead while they're engaged.

That's the role Nimbiq plays: an AI lobby ambassador for your website — trained on your business, answering visitors at 11 PM from your own content the way a good booth rep would, and sending your team the lead snapshot. Every question answered. Every lead captured.

The same structured, answer-ready content is also what AI search engines pull from when they answer buyer questions — fix findability for humans, and the machines come along.

What this benchmark doesn't prove

Worth being straight:

  • This is a findability audit, not a design review. It scores whether a first-time visitor can find answers — site search, navigation clarity, contact paths — not whether the site looks good. A beautiful site can score badly here, and a plain one can score well.
  • 44 exhibitor sites are a snapshot of one industry event, not the whole industrial web. Treat it as a sharp snapshot, not a census.

Method

Scores from the Nimbiq Website Grader, which evaluates how easily a first-time visitor can find answers on an industrial site. 44 of 45 ICC 2026 exhibitor sites graded at time of writing; one site pending. Findings are aggregates only; no company names or individual scores are published. Percentages computed from the 44 graded sites. This research was conducted independently from the public exhibitor list; Nimbiq is not affiliated with ICC.
